Gracie's first Bath experience....
So I decided that Gracie needed a sponge bath the other night because her cord has yet to fall off we still cant immerse her in water. So here are some pictures...We will just say that Steve did NOT like that she was so upset and that she will not be getting another sponge bath!!! (He couldn't handle the tears).
Our first outing...
Well we got home on Friday and Saturday was BEAUTIFUL out!!
So after a long time getting ready we headed out the door for a nice walk on the Orting trail. We stopped for coffee along the way and were able to enjoy the warmth and mountain as we strolled along with our new little one. It was an Amazing evening.

And the story goes like this...
I was scheduled for an induction on the 23rd...at 10pm I was to head to the hospital and receive cytotec to being labor. This was not something that I wanted or was interested in doing but because of my increasing BP and low amniotic fluid it was necessary.
So on the 22nd Steve and I went to a Dr. appointment in the morning, which went well dilated to a 2 this Midwife said and 80% effaced, contracting but I had been for weeks. definitely stronger then they had been before however. So she told me to go home and hydrate. Well we went out to lunch at a new Greek food place in downtown and then off to walk the fair. As the day progressed the contractions got stronger and I needed to stop walking and take a break, but they were very regular. By 4pm the contractions were stronger and getting more frequent 7 or 8 minutes apart and uncomfortable but bearable. Steve was out in the garage working out and by the time 6pm rolled around and he came back in I was feeling the pain. I decided to do some laundry, it would be a good time marker for me to wait for. So I threw a load in the dryer, and after having just taking a bath it was now time for a shower, then it was the yoga ball, and then I tried watching I love Lucy but couldn't concentrate. This whole time Steve had promised to clean the house when I started labor so it would be spotless when we got home...so he cleaned and cleaned.
The shoes Steve gave me to encourage me to breath through the pain and soon our little girl would make her arrival. The I love Lucy was to be a distraction...didn't work well.
By 9pm after 5 hours of laboring at home we were out the door to the hospital. By 9:30 we were at the hospital and the contractions were exactly 3 minutes apart and toe curling pain. We were taken up labor and delivery and I changed clothes and answered the nurses questions. When she checked me I was only dilated to a 3 and still 80-90% effaced. WHAT?? All that pain for one centimeter?? My BP was now 167/116 and they were going to have to get it down somehow. I was given some fentinal after asking for pain relief which was amazing UNTIL... My water broke. Steve and I were still sitting in the admitting labor room and heard this pop like a water balloon I looked at him and then all of a sudden I felt this rush of warmness coming out. I said...hmm Steve my water just broke. With that the contractions were much more intense and my BP was rising again. So it was time for an epidural.
By 12:30 pm I was the proud owner of an epidural that decreased my BP to 112/56 and basically took away all pain. When checked at 1 I had progressed to 5cm and my midwife said she would be back in a while. Within the next hour I had progressed to a 7, and then the next 45 minutes I was dilated completely and completely effaced. The nurse told me she wanted me to continue to contract because Gracie still hadn't dropped down far enough. So by 4 am the midwife was in the room and they were setting up. By 4:30 I was pushing and at 5:02am Gracie Ann Ericson was born! 7lbs 14.8 ounces 20 inches long.

Well I am officially 38 weeks today! i would be happy if she decided to make her arrival at any point in the near future!
My blood pressure is still high if I move at all.
I got a small trip out of the house yesterday. Steve was working so Lorri picked me up and we went to Babies R us in Tacoma, she made me ride in the wheelchair and pushed me around. I felt silly since I don't look sick and their are lots of pregnant ladies walking around. But it was that or stay at home another day...SO the wheel chair it is.
I have another Dr. appointment on Tuesday, hope my blood pressure is acceptable then. I am still avoiding induction at all costs.
On other news we finally picked a name! AND it was not any of the three that we were thinking of... Raegan, Rowen, or Madeline.
THE WINNER IS.....

We are both very excited for the arrival of our little girl, in fact Steve called me 3 times form work yesterday to make sure we weren't going to have a baby. No such luck but soon enough, in God's time not ours.

Where I'm at now...
Steve and I spent 3-4 hours at the Dr. office yesterday...Great when your suppose to be on bed-rest.
The Good
My BP was 130/78 :)
Urinated in a cup...No protein still.
I started the visit with the Group-B test to see if I would need antibiotics during labor...not so bad just a little swab.
We talked about the plan to continue bed-rest since it was working
Then decided to continue the twice weekly non-stress tests.
Well when they hooked me up to the monitors I was having regular contractions so after 1/2 they had me empty my bladder and try again...Still contracting...
So next was a cervical check...much rather the Group B test, some slight effacement but no dilation yet.
Next to pee in a cup again to decided if a UTI could be causing the contractions...No such luck.
So, our daughter has been cooking for 35 weeks and 4 days and we are going to let things progress naturally. No point in stopping labor since her lungs are fully developed at this point.
Interesting side note: Babies with mom's that are hypertensive develop faster! So they believe that she will be closer to ready if she comes out early then other babies. The Lord is amazing!!!!

And yet another update
So today I tried to start working my newly designed 8 hour sifts, and halfway through report I started to feel faint and nauseous. Another nurse took my BP and it was 156/97 so with the other symptoms I was wheeled down to labor and delivery...
After several hours on the monitors my blood pressure went down to 119/56 and I was discharged with the intention that I would not be returning to work until after my maternity leave. SO here I am sitting on bed-rest for the next 5 weeks. Hopefully she comes early and I only have to wait around for anther 3 or so weeks. We will see. If anyone has a hankering to drop by please do, the long days on the couch will soon be boring and tiresome especially when Steve is at work. :)

Another Update
Well I went in for my ultrasound and Non-stress test today.
And everything looked GREAT!
* Placenta has not aged at all
* Baby was estimated at 5lbs 7ounces
* Good amniotic fluid
* Proper heart rate
* BP was down to 138/78
So the plan is 2 or 3 eight hour shifts a week, and when I'm not working still on bed-rest. She said no errands just some light cooking if needed but Steve will need to do the cleaning.
I also am going to have bi-weekly non stress tests until she makes her arrival. So Good news but lots of future appointments. Lets hope my blood pressure stays down!

34 weeks and counting!
Well its been a while since I blogged. I'm currently 34.4 weeks and counting the days. I've been concerned because my BP has been high the last several times Steve or I have checked it. I have an appointment tomorrow and am worried they might stick me on bed-rest. We shall see. I have 11 more days of work before maternity leave I would like to finish. I think I can; I think I can like Thomas the train has so famously quoted. My picture from 33 weeks is of some great friends whom I adore from High school. Michelle in the middle is 2 weeks farther along then me which didn't seem like much until now when I want this baby to come soon and am waiting until I can start legitimately trying to induce labor :)
The next picture I took today myself at 34.4 weeks...
I have been feeling crafty lately and tried to sew for maybe the second or third time in my life. I do believe I quilted Steve a stocking one year which I disliked as much as I have this...But now that I finally am getting the hang of it I think sewing is ...well OKAY at the best.
This I did today...more my speed and fun, A picture frame from the babies room. Now if I could only figure out how to print out a ultrasound picture on photo paper from our new printer I could stick it in there.
Here are some fun ribbons I ordered for the nursery I'm not sure what I have planned for them yet...
And last but not least...Shadow helping me in the nursery :)
Well if anyone is out there reading this I would appreciate some prayers regarding my blood pressure and will update when I get word of what I need to do. I guess its a good thing I invested in the last season of I love lucy last week :) I might just be watching them all before she gets here.
